Eco-justice - a way to envirormental depletion

Creating solutions requires a total system response.

Ecology now is also a system of social, economic, and political thought that sees environmental destruction as only one more symptom (along with poverty and the unequal distribution of wealth and power) of our entire unhealthy modern world-view and belief system.

Environment depletion, child labor exploration in Brazil

Worth watching! It is absolutely real.
Iit is happening not only in the Amazon forest but, chiefly in the State where we live, Minas gerais, in the semi-arid region. Nearly 3 million tons of pig iron (raw iron for producing steels) are exported out of Minas Gerais to the United States. Each ton of pig iron consumes abt 3.5 square meter of charcoal.

Wherever we travel, we see hundreds of trucks hauling charcoal to the pig iron industries close to the capital. Massive volumes are illegally produced.

Developing nations, as Brazil, have not learnt how to live in a sustainable way; developed countries, as USA, have not learnt how to live without exploring the unsustained modes of economic growth.

How shall we tackle this severe problem? Not buying unsustainable products or helping the unsustained commnities to live and work sustainably? or both?
Please opine and act

do not let it all unravel

Get to know the jatropha curcas

Get to know this perennial tree, jatropha-curcas, the selected specie of our project
While planting a tree is a noble way to help heal the environment, experts say it's important to plant the right kind of tree as some can actually do more harm than good... according to BBC

SOS SEMI-ARID BRAZIL - WHO WE ARE

SOS Semi-arid Brazil is an early stage initiative of the Vale da Cidadania (Citizenship Valley) a NGO dedicated to foster the sustained development and poverty alleviation in the poorest region in Brazil (4th poorest in the world according to UN), the valleys of Jequitinhonha and Mucuri in the north of Minas Gerais State and BioVale Energy a Brazilian consortium of socially and environmentally responsible companies with expertises in biofuels productive chain.

The main goals of this initiative is to combine efforts to foster the social-economic development in the region by planting perennial productive trees, jatropha-curcas , by means of voluntary tree donations.

Therefore the project has dual impact - socially assisting the agricultural deprived families and environmentally neutralizing the Gas heating effect of carbon emission which is causing an alarming impact in the global warming.

We are fully supported by the State Government main agencies, universities and other organizations towards the project.

While we are developing the structure and resources to support the project, you suggestions, skills, support would be highly appreciated.

We make ourselves available to provide full information;details of the project.
